New applicants:

Tuition and range fee Varies on current price of class
(Online application) State fees total an additional $144.94 (age 64 or younger) & $93.44 (age 65 or older)
(Mail in application) State fees total an additional $139.75 (age 64 or younger) & $89.75 (age 65 or older)

Your license is good for 5 years.

Step 1 - Before you start, check to make sure you qualify for the Arkansas State CHCL HERE

Step 2 - Enroll in the next available class with AFI and place your deposit (or) pay in full HERE

Step 3 - Apply with the Arkansas State Police
• Apply Online - Instructions | Application (Preferred method)
• Apply on Paper - Instructions | Application Form

Step 4 - After successfully completing our CHCL Class, you will then submit your payment, training completion certificate, fingerprints and a copy of your drivers license as directed by the instructor.

Step 5 - Wait for your license to come in the mail (This takes anywhere from a couple of weeks, to several months depending on how busy the processing division is).



License Renewals:

A private recertification appointment is $55

On-line Renewal = $62.80
(Includes application and background check fee.)

On-line Late Renewal (expired less than six months) = $78.25
(Includes application and background check fee, and late fee of $15.00.)

Your license is good for 5 years.

Step 2 - Apply with the Arkansas State Police online

Step 3 - Submit your training certificate and copies of your CHCL and Driver License to the Arkansas State Police as instructed HERE.

Step 4 - Wait for your license to come in the mail (This takes anywhere from a couple of weeks, to several months depending on how busy the processing division is).



Name or address change:

Step 1 - Download, print and fill out Change of Name and/or Address Notification Form - HERE

Step 2 - Submit the completed form to the Arkansas State Police as instructed.

Step 3 - A new license will not be sent to you. You will need to keep the documentation on file for reference. If you desire an updated license, you will need to fill out a 'Lost or destroyed' license form HERE



Transfers:

(Mail in) State fees total $74.75

No class tuition or sign up with AFI is required for transfers

Step 1 - Download, print and fill out the transfer Instructions and Application

Step 2 - Submit the completed application with payment, fingerprints and your original valid Concealed Handgun Carry License from the reciprocal state to the Arkansas State Police as instructed

Step 3 - Wait for your license to come in the mail (This takes anywhere from a couple of weeks, to several months depending on how busy the processing division is)

The Arkansas State Police will take your fingerprints for free at the headquarters on I-30 & Geyer Springs. (Click Here to See Map) You can also turn in paper applications at that location. Online applications are preferred and result in a much faster turn around.

License Reciprocity

Effective August 16, 2013, the State of Arkansas acknowledges all concealed handgun carry licenses lawfully issued by another state.

It is the individual responsibility of each Arkansas concealed carry licensees who may travel outside the State of Arkansas to determine whether their license is lawfully acknowledged within other out of state jurisdictions.
